RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #45

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #45

This week I've been working on a few things and getting a lot of things done as well as work on things or get things started that will be coming up in the future! My aim for 2024 is to do more things that in 2023 and already feel like I'm going to hit that target with the number of things I have planned for this year and am looking forward to sharing them as they are announced or completed!

Next week I'll be at Dev Community North East with my brand-new talk Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8 that was postponed from last month, I've been able to use the extra time to refine my slides and demo along with getting a longer version prepared for DDD North which will also be next week. I'm really looking forward to doing these talks there, also hopefully I will be able to take this talk on tour and deliver it at other meetups around the country, so if you have a user group or know of one then get in touch either on LinkedIn or X and look forward to speaking at your user group in the near future!

Next week I'll also be publishing four new Tutorials on tutorialr.com which includes Custom Button, Custom Slider, Custom CheckBox and Custom ToggleSwitch with the final four for now being published next month! The start of next month will also see the latest Episode of the RoguePlanetoid Podcast being released which will be about XAML which will cover various legacy and current uses of XAML and there will also be future episodes about .NET MAUI and Uno Platform which also use XAML.

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #44

This week saw four new Tutorials for Windows App SDK added to tutorialr.com including Radial Layout, Offset Layout, Docking Layout and Uniform Layout. There will be eight more Tutorials to be added before taking a break until later in the year when I will be adding more examples! Windows App SDK as mentioned before forms part of my Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8 talks for Dev Community North East and DDD North so will be great to show it off again!

This week I've been working on the Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8 talk which not only includes Windows App SDK but Windows Presentation Foundation and .NET MAUI. XAML will be the key topic for the upcoming Episode of the RoguePlanetoid Podcast releasing on 1st March which will be about XAML, but another episode will be dedicated to .NET MAUI along with another future episode about Uno Platform which also use XAML to create cross-platform applications.

Next week will be continuing to work on some things and getting ready for my Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8 talk at the end of the month, it has been a busy month this month so far already and don't expect that to change for the next few months where not only will I work on things I've done before but will also work on some new things that I'll be able to share later this year!

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #43

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #43

This week I started posting regular updates on LinkedIn each weekday which started with a post about the latest Episode of the RoguePlanetoid Podcast about C# along with sharing an interesting post. I also posted about attending and writing an Article about the Unlocking the Value of AI event by Innovation SuperNetwork along with Scott Logic and the National Innovation Centre for Data which was an interesting and informative event with some great discussions too!

This week I found out that a longer version of my talk, Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8, had been accepted to DDD North - which is also open for registration, in March and will deliver a shorter version of that talk for North East Dev Community in the same week at the end of February so really looking forward to doing the talk in two different ways that week! Something I'd spoken about before which was the AI companion for the Web with Bing Copilot marked a year since it launched in 2023, since then it has been amazing to see the enhancements and improvements that followed and have used it on a regular basis since then.

Next week will see four new Tutorials for Windows App SDK added to tutorialr.com including Radial Layout, Offset Layout, Docking Layout and Uniform Layout. I've also been working on the final Tutorials for now as will be taking a break to allow new features to be added to Windows App SDK that I can use later along with freeing up time to not only work on my upcoming presentations but also start working on some new things too!

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #42

RoguePlanetoid Weekly Update #42

This past week there was some good news about the North East Dev Community which was cancelled last month as it is now back on this month on the 27th of February so am looking forward to delivering my talk, Take a Note of XAML with .NET 8, which will cover Windows Presentation Foundation and Windows App SDK and .NET MAUI platforms using XAML with .NET 8. I've also submitted this same topic for DDD North which will be an extended version of the talk going into a bit more detail for each platform.

This past week also saw the latest Episode of the RoguePlanetoid Podcast released about C#, this also marked one year since the launch of the podcast and now has over 280 downloads and appreciate everyone who has listened to the podcast over the past twelve months, it has been a fantastic journey and am pleased so many people have taken the time to listen along with subscribing or following the podcast.

Next week I'll be going along to the Unlocking the value of AI talk where the Innovation SuperNetwork have partnered with Scott Logic and the National Innovation Centre for Data to hold a one-day event about helping organisations in the North East of England understand the potential for harnessing AI for their business development. I've been following Large Language Models since the launch of ChatGPT and use Microsoft Copilot on a regular basis so is great to go along and help support this event and writing an Article about it on this website.
