1. Windows Phone 7 Launch announcement

Windows Phone 7 was officially announced this week on Monday - although I was not at any of the events as they were press only I did watch the live webcast and was impressed by the quality of the devices - would have liked to see more of the apps, however this was shown at the London event, which was not broadcast live including the IMDB and Tesco apps.

Most opinions of the event seemed to be quite positive, plus one of the main “missing pieces” being discussed everywhere was mentioned “copy and paste” which will be coming in a early 2011 OS update. I’m actually hoping that this update also adds the API needed for compass integration and maybe more access to some other capbilities of the phone such as SQL CE.

This Thursday is when the phones actually become available in the UK - hoping the launch gets as much coverage on the TV as iPhone did - not seeing much mention of Windows Phone 7 outside the tech community online. I hope that in the next few days there will be TV and print ads featuring Window Phone 7, but I think these are appearing in the United States, not so much in Europe and the UK included.

My two applications GameCardr and ZuneCardr are available on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and will be available at launch, they’re both free and I look forward to trying out my own applications on the phone too!
